Are you looking to buy an electric pressure cooker, but you want to be able to slow cook in it as well? Most people buy an electric pressure cooker but don’t really think about the extra options and how well they will work.
A lot of pressure cookers give the option of a slow cooker but it doesn’t always work the same as an ordinary slow cooker and if you buy a slow cooker pressure cooker so you can get rid of one of the pieces of your kitchen equipment, then its worth knowing if what you buy is going to work the way you want.
If you’re looking for the best pressure cookers with the best slow cooker results then we have a couple of choices for you which we believe fit that criteria.
#1. Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker, 6 Litre, 1000 W, Brushed Stainless Steel/Black
The Instant Pot Duo is a 7-in-1 Multi-Functional Cooker,Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Saute/Browning, Yoghurt Maker, Steamer and Warmer.
If you are going to buy an all in one piece of equipment, you want to know it’s going to work for all the things that you want to make.
The slow cooker on the Instant Pot Duo has 3 heat settings, as you have on the conventional slow cookers of low, medium and high. You can set the cooker with the one touch control panel, and you can set the time to cook from 0.5 hours to 20 hours. When you slow cook the venting position on the lid is in the pressure release position, as you don’t want it to pressure cook. So you just put your ingredients in the pot and put on the lid, you set the valve on the top to venting position, set your time to cook, set your heat setting, and you’re ready to go.
There is also a saute setting on this cooker which allows you to brown your meat and vegetables in the pot before you start to slow cook if this is the way you normally prepare your recipe. There is also a glass pot lid accessory that can be bought to fit the inner pot, great if you like to check the progress without removing the pot lid and it means not worrying about the venting switch.
The inner pot is stainless steel, which is great for any type of cooking and a lot of people prefer it to a non-stick option, the capacity is 6 litres.
#2. Sage by Heston Blumenthal the Fast Slow Cooker Pro
Our second choice is the Sage Fast Slow Cooker Pro. This is a professionally designed pressure cooker. The Sage Fast Slow Pro can pressure cook, slow cook, steam, reduce, sauté and sear with the press of a button.
This slow cooker function has eight smart time options once you select the slow cook button, you can choose from stock, soup, legumes, casserole, pot roast, lamb shanks, bolognese, pudding and custom. What all this means is that the food options give you a set time and temperature which should produce the best result, the custom button allows you to choose what temperature and what cooking time you wish. The temperature settings can be low or high and the cooking times between 2-12 hours. There is an automatic keep warm function that kicks in at the end of cooking for up to 2 hours. There is also a saute option on this pressure cooker so you can brown your meat and vegetables if you wish prior to slow cooking.
The cooking pot in the Sage Fast Slow Pro is a non-stick option with a capacity of 6 litres.
Both of these pressure cookers with slow cooker function are great choices, and you won’t be disappointed with either one of them.
Our Top Choice is the Instant Pot Duo . The reasons for this are, we think it is a bit easier to use, the fact that you can use a separate lid for visual cooking and the stainless steel inner pot just ticks more boxes for the majority of people and you can get it in an 8 litre size too . It doesn’t have lots of pre-set options in the slow cooker part but we think that most people know roughly how long they want to cook for, it doesn’t have to be exact for slow cooking, and if you’re not sure you can let it cook up to 20 hours and keep an eye on it, the Sage Fast Slow Pro only gives you the option of 12 hours.
