There are a few types of Instant pot available to buyers these days but if you live in the UK they aren’t all available yet. The latest to be released here is the Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus. Let’s take a look at what this new electric pressure cooker has to offer and is it worth paying the extra when buying when there are cheaper versions of Instant Pot available.

What is the Instant Pot DUO Evo Plus?

The Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus  is a 10-in-1 electric pressure cooker. It can cover 10 cooking functions in one unit which include pressure cooking, rice cooking, slow cooking, yoghurt making, steaming, sautéing, warming, cake making and you can sous vide or make stock too.  The front panel offers touch button presets for ease of use. Get rid of some of your other kitchen gadgets when you own an Evo Plus.

Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus Review

The Evo Plus has some new features which makes it easier to use. Here’s a list of what’s offered:

  • 20+ enhancements.
  • Cooks fast & saves time.
  • Cooks upto 70 % faster.
  • New 1200w heating element reduces preheating.
  • Pressure release time is shortened with our new quick cool technology.
  • New easy seal lid automatically seals the pressure cooker.
  • New and improved steam diffusing cover takes the fear out of the pressure release process.
  • 48 customisable preset options.
  • Stainless steel inner pot with easy grip nonslip handles and flat inner surface.
  • Biggest display yet.
  • Cooking progress indicator shows clearly where you are in the cooking cycle

The new Evo Plus has a 5.7L capacity which is only slightly smaller that the standard Instant Pot but what this offers is handles attached to the inner pot which means it’s much easier to get out of the  base unit when you’re cooking is finished. Anything that makes it safer is a plus in my eyes.

The base of the inner pot is totally flat making it easier when sautéing but with the new handles it can be used on the hob separately too.

It looks similar to the standard Instant Pot at first glance except for the blue display panel which gives a larger display so it’s easier to see exactly how much time is left to cook from any angle.

They have kept it easy to use with touch button controls but now have 48 preset options so you have less thinking to do.

With a more powerful 1200w heating element it can cook even quicker, up to 70% faster than in a standard pan on the cooker. It’s so handy for so many things.

They’ve even improved the steam release valve. People are often worried about scalding themselves moving the valve to the open position but in this new version there is a separate switch and the valve area is covered.

This makes it so much easier to keep your hands away from the steam when you release it.

You still have all of the cooking options as in the standard instant pot except you now have a cake baking option and a sous-vide option. Throw away your slow cooker and steamer as you can do that with this cooker. Make your rice in here too.

Cooking one pot meals for the family is so easy with an Instant Pot, set it up in the morning with the timer so that it will cook and be finished in time for your evening meal.

I make yoghurt in mine every week. It’s so simple to make using long life milk and a bit of yoghurt from the previous batch. I tell you all about it here.

It is a bit of a higher price than the standard model but it is does have some improvements that you might feel is worth the extra price.

Alternative New Design Instant Pot Pressure Cookers

Instant Pot 60 DUO Plus

This Instant Pot Duo Plus is an upgraded version of the standard 6L.

The main changes are the display which is now a white number on a blue back screen.

The valve has been changed on this too, with one-touch release.

There are extra  functions on this pressure cooker, the egg, steriliser and sous vide options which might be useful to you.

There isn’t much difference in the price between the older version and this one although the newer versions don’t have the same accessories.

Instant Pot Duo Plus 30

Getting a smaller electric pressure cooker is a great option if you have a small kitchen or a small family.

It’s a great size for leaving on the worktop and it does everything that its big brother can do.

This is the updated version of the Instant Pot Mini which has the upgraded one-touch release button.

Although it’s smaller you still get the benefit of a slow cooker as well as a pressure cooker, all the flexibility of the delay timer and keep warm function. This is a great workhorse in any kitchen.

Instant Pot Duo Plus 80

If you have a large family or like to do batch cooking then you might want to invest in a larger size 8L Instant Pot.

The Instant Pot Duo Plus 80 is the updated version of the 8L. It’s a great size for cooking a chicken or holding quite a few bones when making bone broth.

You get the benefit of a larger size inner pot with all of the functions that are offered in all of the Instant Pots.

You can use the preset timers or the manual control which can be set for up to 24 hours and it’s easy to clean with a stainless steel inner pot. It’s a little bigger to store but you’ll find yourself using it more that you think you will.

If you want an electric pressure cooker but have been a bit nervous of messing about with the steam releasing then you will like the valve improvements on this Instant Pot Duo Evo Plus. I really like the fact that you can use the inner pot as a pan in its own right which makes it even more useful.

Instant Pot are a top quality company and the pressure cookers last well so I don’t find it an issue to pay a bit extra for the improvements offered on the newest version.
