The Tefal RK302E15 Multicook 8-in-1 Multicooker is 29 x 26.5 x 30 cm in size. It is a smart black and stainless steel cooker which has a smaller capacity than some multi cookers at only 2.2 litres.
It includes a recipe book, spoon, measuring cup, a steam basket and an instruction booklet in with your appliance.
The unit has a carrying handle so it’s easy to move around with one hand. The lid is easily opened by a button on the top of it. On the inside of the lid you have an inner lid with a gasket that is removable for easy cleaning. There is a non-stick removable bowl within the multi-cooker and it can easily be washed up by hand or placed in the dishwasher after use. The control panel is on the front of the machine. It very easy to use, once you plug in your RK302E15 it is ready for you to select which option you want to use. If you want to make rice you would press the menu button until the light comes onto the right selection. You need to add all of your ingredients into the bowl, for each cup of dry rice you require 1.5 cups of water which is marked on the inner bowl, add the rice first. Close the lid and press start. The sensors in the cooker know when there is no water left in the pan and it will switch off and go into keep warm mode.
Your Tefal RK302E15 has 8 different functions:
- Quick rice
- white rice
- brown rice
- slow cooking
You have the option of a delayed start on most of the functions on the Tefal RK302E15 Multicooker but not all. It’s not an option on the slow cooker or the dessert options. The delayed start includes the cooking time so if you want to eat in 12 hours then your delayed time is 12 hours. The delayed time usually ranges between 2 and 15 hours. To choose this function select what you want to cook, then select the Preset button and use the arrow buttons to select your time. When you press start it will start the countdown.
If you want to cook grains you can cook Couscous, Bulgur Wheat, Polenta, Quinoa and Millet. The maximum in this cooker is 5 cups which requires 10 cups of water, add the grain and follow the measures on the bowl. Close the lid and press start unless you want to delay the start time.
The delay time is great for the porridge function so that you can set the oatmeal/porridge at night and have it ready for when you get up in the morning.
The slow cooker option on the Tefal RK302E15 doesn’t let you use the delay timer, probably because it won’t know when it’s due to finish. The stew or whatever you cook isn’t meant to cook dry like rice. There is only one setting on this slow cooker and the manual suggests you presume it is a low setting. When you select the slow cooker option it will show 60 minutes but you can change that up to 9 hours to suit. It will go to keep warm when the timer ends.
When using the steam function the water level should be kept below the steam tray. If you use 2 cups of water that relates to approximately 30 minutes of steaming time. Add your ingredients to the tray and close the lid. You can choose the delay timer on the steam option if you want to.
The dessert option allows you to bake a cake. The Tefal RK302E15 will heat for about 45 minutes before going into keep warm. Get some recipes in the included booklet for puddings and cakes.
There are a lot of happy customers who find this multi-cooker to do the job that they want it to. It can cook rice without it sticking on the bottom and can bake a mean cake. Many people use it for different things rice puddings, porridge, stews and steaming and find it works well although you may have to adjust timings or water to make it to your own preference.
The biggest issues people have found is the product giving errors after the warranty is over. Some people felt that it cooked too slow and some people thought it was a pressure cooker (It is not).
This Tefal RK302E15 Multicook 8-in-1 Multicooker is a great kitchen appliance if you’re looking for a multi-cooker that’s not too large and that can fit easily on your worktop. It offers you the flexibility of being able to cook your rice or set up your oatmeal at night so it’s ready for breakfast and then you can set it up with a slow cooker meal for your tea. All with just one multi-cooker.
